jerusalem2The Holy City of Jerusalem cannot be explained, but only experienced. Sacred to all the Abrahamic faiths, Jerusalem is a city of the past, present and future.
The Old City remains the heart and soul of Jerusalem, with its four distinctive quarters and seven gates linked together by 4 kilometers of a stone wall that contain the resplendent Dome of the Rock, Al Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre remain a bustling microcosm of Palestinian society.
The busy streets of Sheikh Jarrah and Nablus Road have their fair share of Palestinian history, while the views from the church-lined Gethsemane and Mount of Olives are second to none.
Rebuilt twice, conquered twenty-three times and having more than forty distinct eras of rule, Jerusalem has absorbed each period until at present it can claim more than 2,000 religious and cultural sites.
More than an open-air museum, Jerusalem is a beehive of humanity, with official and unofficial representatives of virtually every Christian denomination, numerous Jewish sects and Muslim pilgrims from the world over. No visit to Palestine is complete without a trip to Jerusalem, and no visitor leaves not taken in by its significance to the world’s destiny.
